i create art inside out. Performance Sculpture composed of materials; positions, non-movement, action, and environment expose “within” the experience and its history while acknowledging what is. The concept quickly developed a new process in art. An installation, ISO at Postarte in Milan, explored one idea through a series of living sculptures. Each action became an individual event within the evolution of that idea. This experience finalized for the audience and me only through all eighteen performances. The remnants of each performance were left “as is” as witness. Photography and extensive writing from my state of mind, before, during, and after each performance, added completion to the evolving search of mind, body, and soul. This experiment began the format explored further with islAnd, reflecting the isle of Capri with my experience, and bLoom, a condition of vigor, freshness, and beauty, coming into a magnified form. A different breed of artists in Richmond, Virginia spawned the collaboration i object and revealed a new audience in dance and theater. Other challenges by Richmonds art community evolved into i+i=3 and uendi. These experiences continued to mature within the collaborative, oui, with artist Becca Broughton. Our experiments arrived in Toronto, Canada at the exhibition making ROOM created by Heather Nicol as withinU/withoutI. Further activities are planned and in the studio to be unveiled soon around New York CIty.
